This is Zoe here, I have been directing monetary support to two queer black youth in New Orleans for several years (I’ve known them for ten years). Their identities, including any personal details, are kept private for their safety. They are siblings and have never had access to safe and stable housing. From a very young age they have been victims of violence due to this lack of housing. The older sibling is a new parent and has almost no support. This has increased their vulnerability to violence and their need for basic support.

Since becoming a parent, they have been on a waiting list for government housing (waiting for over a year). Where social services fall short, we have an opportunity to show up. I know so many of us are struggling to survive. If you are able to offer support, you choose the amount. The ongoing monthly support has levels to choose from. There is also a one-time option for those with unstable income.

Please give what you can and share with friends. Let’s keep these youth safe.

I will update this periodically, currently the monthly donations total $380. The goal is $2,000 (to cover rent and utilities for a two bedroom apartment in New Orleans).

NOTE: I collect these funds because neither of the recipients have a consistent way of receiving funds. I am a go between. I do not dictate how they use these funds, that is up to them.
