Zoe Boekbinder was born sometime, someplace, and there are some interesting things to say about
her. She plays in a band called Vermillion Lies that has toured the US, and the world, in venues like:
The SF Fillmore, Ceasar's Palace Grand Ballroom, and The Great American Music Hall.
Her Vermillion Lies songs have gotten national radio play and been featured on NPR.
Zoe plays pop music laced with old timey blues, jazz, and folk. She claims to be influenced
by the likes of Tom Waits, Regina Spektor, Billie Holiday, Jolie Holland, The BLOW, Mirah,
The Lisps, Mississippi John Hurt, Blind Willie Johnson, Woody Guthrie, Elvis, and The Muppets.
She toured the US solo in 2007 and has put out a seven song EP, entitled "Shoestrings".
"Zoe sounds a little like Jolie Holland dancing on Billie Holiday's gramophone player in Tom Waits's
New Orleans hotel room."
- Newt Lynn - Read It Here - Prescott AZ Weekly Paper
"If I hadn't had the chance to meet her in person I would have thought she was years older than she is.
She sings with confidence, authority and a wisdom that seems informed by years of regret."
- Jordan - SepiaChord.com - CD Review
"California guitarist-accordionist-singer-kazooist Zoe Vermillion just released her first album and it features
swanky jazz-ish tunes in a retro '30's kinda way like a radio broadcast of Billie or Ella."
